Good morning friends! How was your week?
This (hopefully) final cold spell made things a bit sniffly (do you like that word because I do :)) around here. Thankfully a few runny noses is hardly the end of the world, let’s focus on the coming sunshine and Spring soon to come instead!
And with that, it’s time for another Five Things Friday!
First, Just Call Me Speedy Gonzolas!
Just kidding! You could, but you wouldn’t be very accurate. Something came over me on Tuesday, and for the first time in my running life, I was really excited to start working on my speed! Does that mean track workouts? Heck no! I love, love, love, my very scientific, no-training approach to running, and I have no intention of changing that.
Does that limit how fast I will ever get? Yes. Do I care? Nope! This is how I enjoy running, and that is not something I am willing to sacrifice.
My focus will most likely look like change re-vamped intervals and tempo runs.
Second, Links I Loved
There are countless articles, stories, and features about the benefits of cooking a meal with the family at home. It saves money, bonding, relaxation, yadda yadda yadda, What sets Angela’s article is not only her clear voice on the subject, but the quotes about what cooking is, here is a sampling,
“Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.” Craig Claiborne, Kitchen Primer
How spot on!
YouTube is a fabulous learning tool. Do you want to learn Spanish? How to Knit? Killer knife skills? It is your ticket to your newly mastered skill! Unfortunately, some of us lack the patience to sit through an entire video (ahem, guilty!) I was thrilled to come across this fabulous alternative. Think of it as a cliff notes to new knife skills!
Third, Mid-Week Froyo Dates
It’s no secret I am a multiple times per week froyo eating gal, but for the sake of my wallet I tend to confine my indulgences to the weekend. One sure-fire way to make a mundane Wednesday better though is meeting a friend for a much needed chat over the delicious goodness. I think this is a habit that needs to become a regular part of everyone’s schedule.
Fourth, March Madness… Gooooo Gators!
I have high hopes that this continues to be a re-occurring feature in Five Things Friday! As a girl who was raised on basketball in football country (Florida for you non-SECers) It feel SO right to watch Billy Donovan lead our team to what I sincerely hope will be yet another National Championship!
Finally, The Week In Fitness
Per my decision to take it easy a second week in a row,
Friday: 7 miles 2 @ 8:19, 2 sets of 5 minutes @ 7:18, 5 @ 8:19
One reason and one reason alone, I needed sleep! Though I have been waking up at early am for 2 years now, it seems to be getting harder not easier. Let’s hope this is not a trend.
Wednesday: 5 miles easy, @8:49, abs
Tuesday: 7 miles, 2 @ 8:19, 5 @ 7:41, abs
Sunday: 5 shakeout miles @ 8:05 average pace
Saturday: 7 hilly miles @ 8:00 average pace
What time do you wake up? Does it ever feel like it is getting harder to wake up at your usual time, all other things the same?
